Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Tetelo is operated by Hashbeen, based in British Columbia, Canada. This page explains what information Tetelo collects, why, and how you can access, export, or delete it.

What we collect

  • Account info: your email, first/last name, and country/province (used to set your timezone).
  • Financial data you enter: accounts, balances, transactions, recurring bills, tags, budgets, and debts. Tetelo never connects to your real bank accounts — everything is manually entered by you.
  • Grocery data: your grocery dictionary (items, stores, prices), shopping lists, and purchase/usage history — used to power the Groceries and Grocery Insights features.
  • Usage data: activity history within the app (e.g. "created a transaction"), achievement progress, and login streaks — used to power features like the Activity log and Achievements pages.
  • Push notification subscription — only if you turn notifications on.
  • Google Drive access token — only if you connect automatic backups to your own Google Drive. This token is stored securely on our server and is never exposed to your browser or any other party.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. If that ever changes, we'll ask you again, specifically — not just update this page and assume that's enough.

The one exception: we may disclose information if required to by law, court order, or valid legal process — true of any service, and we'd only ever do so to the extent actually required.

Household sharing

If you join or create a shared household, the accounts, transactions, budgets, debts, and activity you and other household members enter are visible to everyone in that household — that's the point of the feature. Each action is attributed to the person who did it (e.g. "Jordan added Coffee — $4.50") so shared use stays accountable. Household membership only happens through an explicit invite you accept — it's never automatic.

Where your data lives

Your account and financial data are stored in a Supabase-hosted database located in Canada. The app itself runs on Vercel's hosting infrastructure. A small number of trusted services process data on our behalf strictly to run specific features:

  • Supabase — database and authentication.
  • Vercel — application hosting, plus basic, anonymized traffic/performance analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights).
  • Resend — delivers the email when you use the Bug report / Request feature option.
  • Google — only if you connect Google Drive backup, solely to save/restore your backup file in your own Drive.

Cookies

Tetelo uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Children's privacy

Tetelo isn't directed at children, and you must be at least 18 to create an account (see our Terms of Service). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us below and we'll remove it.

Your rights

You can, at any time, from the Profile page:

  • Export a complete copy of your data as a file.
  • Correct any of your data by editing it directly in the app.
  • Delete your account and every piece of data tied to it, permanently and immediately, from the Danger Zone section.

If Tetelo changes hands

If Hashbeen is acquired, merges with another company, or transfers Tetelo to a new operator, your data may transfer as part of that deal — but it stays subject to this Privacy Policy (or one at least as protective) until you're notified and given a chance to review any changes. If Tetelo ever shuts down entirely, we'll give advance notice and a window to export your data before anything is deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
